Applying for an exchange year

How I applied for a exchange year .

I will probably leave next year with the Rotary on an exchange .

And this is how I got involved with the Rotary.

So last year (school year 2014-2015) the class of my best friends got an exchange student from Indonesia . He was so funny and had amazing stories to tell. And I just admired him because in only one year he learned Dutch . And I think he had a great experience and in my defence , he couldn't have stranded any place better then with us .

So as I was looking for exchange program I came across the page of the Rotary. I didn't look in to it very deep because the website is very confusing ( the Belux site ) . And in the last few months of his exchange my friends and I started to plan a surprise party and it was amazing . It was the last time we saw him because he returned home the next day. 

When the new school year started I had already given up on the idea of exchange , it was just to expensive. And then somewhere in September , were these people from the Rotary at our school presenting the idea of an exchange year and I was just blown away by the details. So I talked about it with my parents and they agreed to a meeting with the CEO of our local Rotary club. And as we were sitting there talking about it , things became clear : rules , responsibility's , costs and it was just . you know just ... mind blowing. The cost was just like 7 times less then everywhere else that I looked . And the responsibility's are amazing . You become the ambassador of your country in your host country. You can give a list with country's you would like to go , but each one has to be in a different language . So you can't really choose what country and where in that country. 

So at the end of the meeting my mom asks how certain it is that I'll be able to go and the guy just go's like "ow 99.99 % " and my mom almost had a heart attack.

So I printed out all 5 copies of my application . And it's been over a month and I still haven't finished it. You have to write a letter a bout your life, your parents have to write a letter about you, you have to fill everything in , go to the doctor , go to the hospital for tests , go to the dentist and the school has to fill in papers.

So once I know more, I'll let you know.
